Appeal for donations
Just after Mark Kennedy was exposed we set up a solidarity fund so that people who were traumatised by the actions of undercover police could receive support. We got several thousand pounds which has been spent on a range of legal, travel and therapeutic costs. There are people who need ongoing support, and we anticipate that will be the case for years to come.
So, in true chugger style, we're formalising it and asking for small standing orders. If you want to help support people affected by undercover police then please make out a standing order for whatever you can afford. We suggest that it be an amount you can give each month and not really miss - that way you're unlikely to cancel it and so we can budget for ongoing costs such as counselling. Don't think your disposable money is too small to count, even £1 a month would be great and will mount up with the donations from other people. Although we'd prefer supporters to set up standing orders, if you're not in a position to do that, a one-off donation (no matter how small) would also be welcome.
Who are we? – We are a group of four people who knew a number of the undercover cops and the people affected. We can be contacted via [email protected]. Two of us have also been involved in the support group for Police Spies Out of Lives, and one of us is involved with the Campaign Opposing Police Surveillance.
Who gets the money? - Anyone who feels they need it can ask. We will not be limiting it just to those who had sexual relationships with officers, nor will we be prioritising any person or group above any other. It's being done case-by-case, and people's circumstances and needs vary so greatly we feel we can't do a points system. The length of time they knew an officer, the degree of intimacy, whether they're suing the cops, none of it is on a bingo card. Between the four of us we think there's enough balance and insight to act responsibly.
How to contribute:
